Candlelight Tours

The annual Candlelight Tour, a holiday that many people make plans to come and experience. Held the weekend before Thanksgiving this holiday celebration is filled with candlelit streets with shop owners dressed in vintage attire. The atmosphere of hot ciders and fresh air brings floods of memories to folks wishing to recall the days of Christmas past. Join the singing as carolers and barbershop quartets sing out yuletide songs, ride the horse and buggy through town or sit in a rocking chair and listen to the sounds of a bygone era. Call 1.800.337.1927 for more information.

Meriwether-Pike Scenic Byway

MERIWETHER-PIKE COUNTY SCENIC BYWAY
This 55-mile loop winds past covered bridges and a gristmill as it follows Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s trail through the pastoral countryside of this region. Drive along the Flint River, where Roosevelt fished, and check out Cove, where (the story goes) FDR bought his moonshine

Roosevelt's Little White House

This was the home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, America’s only President elected four times. Roosevelt visited Warm Springs hoping that the naturally warm waters found in the small town would help ease the paralysis he suffered from polio. Roosevelt’s home, which he also designed, contains many original furnishings including his wheelchair he designed himself using a kitchen chair. The sun deck overlooks a deep wooded ravine with panoramic views. The therapeutic pools museum is located one mile from the house. These 88-degree waters originate 3,800 feet below the earth's surface. A fund-raising campaign is underway to build a new museum honoring this great world leader
